The Los Angeles Latino International Film Festival Partners with Home Media Magazine to Host Premier Industry Event Oct. 9

Santa Ana, CA--(HISPANIC PR WIRE)--Home Media Magazine is teaming with the Los Angeles Latino International Film Festival (LALIFF) to host a DVD industry event at the 11th annual film festival.

The festival takes place Oct. 7-14 at the ArcLight Cinemas in Hollywood, Calif. Home Media Magazine’s Angelique Flores on Oct. 9 will moderate a panel, “Distributing Your Film on DVD,” at the festival with the top Latino DVD distributors and suppliers in the home entertainment business for an audience of filmmakers and other LALIFF attendees.

“LALIFF is the premiere Latino film festival in the country, and Home Media Magazine is looking for more ways to get involved in the lucrative and growing Latin entertainment market,” Flores said. She adds that many, if not most, of the films that are shown at film festivals are released directly to DVD. “As the leading home entertainment magazine, we are looking to partner with film festivals because this really is our natural market.”

Representatives from Desert Mountain Media, Laguna Productions, Lionsgate and Warner Home Video are scheduled to sit on the panel to discuss the Latino home entertainment industry and distribution.

The panel will take place Oct. 9 at The Village located at the rooftop at the ArcLight Cinemas from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. A networking cocktail reception will follow from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The panel will be invite-only; the reception will be open to the public.

The event will be under the festival’s Hollywood Connect program, which is a series of breakfast and luncheon meetings, industry panels and presentations to build bridges between filmmakers and the professionals from the Hollywood film community.

“The importance of DVD distribution is that it is a second window of opportunity in the marketing of a film, after theatrical distribution,” said José Carlos Mangual, the industry office manager for LALIFF. “Films that don’t enjoy the success and exposure from a theatrical release are able, through the popular, accessible medium of DVD, to benefit not only financially, but also in promoting up-and-coming actors and wonderful new stories that would not have otherwise made it to audiences.”

The festival promotes Latin cinema from the United States, Latin America, Central America, the Caribbean, Spain and Portugal. It will include numerous screenings of feature films, documentaries and shorts, as well as industry workshops, panels, labs, networking receptions, educational programs and galas.
