The national Hispanic health campaign, “Celebra La Vida Con Salud” (Celebrate A Healthy Life) makes a stop in Atlanta this weekend as part of its six-city Spring 2007 health festival tour. Celebra equips Hispanics with information on illness prevention and health promotion for illnesses disproportionately impacting the Hispanic community.

Celebra also offers festival participants free medical screenings for HIV/AIDS, cholesterol, glucose, blood pressure and BMI.

WHAT:
Celebra La Vida Con Salud - National Hispanic Health Campaign and Festival

WHEN:
Sunday, June 3
10:00AM – 4:00PM

WHERE:
Plaza Fiesta
4166 Buford Hwy.
Atlanta, GA 30345

WHY:
Hispanics have disproportionately high rates of several major illnesses and diseases, including HIV/AIDS, heart disease, diabetes, stroke, and obesity, as well as and some types of cancers, including cervical cancer.

Local partners include Spalding Dental Center, AID Atlanta, AID Gwinnett, National Council of La Raza, HealthSTAT, Feminist Women's Health Center, Tree Trail Medical, DeKalb County Board of Health, Clinica de la Mama, Dia de la Mujer, Intercultural Center for Health and Wellness and Emory University.
