Dallas, TX--(HISPANIC PR WIRE)--May 20, 2007--LATINA Style Magazine, the premier magazine addressing the needs of Latina professionals in the U.S., with the participation of the U.S. Small Business Administration, returns to Dallas to host the 2007 LATINA Style Business Series on Friday, May 25, 2007 at the Hilton Anatole Hotel (2201 Stemmons Freeway). The event is chaired by an amazing committee of Latinas: Lupita Colmenero, El Hispano News; Veronica Torres, DCVB; Carmen Garcia, State Fair of Texas; Cici Rojas, GDHCC and Nina Vaca of Pinnacle.
The LATINA Style Business Series is the most successful business development conference that seeks to empower Latina professionals and business owners by bringing them together with key corporations and agencies that provide goods, services and essential information most needed by today’s entrepreneur.

The Business Series starts at 8:00 am and concludes at 4:00 pm. Deputy Mayor Dr. Elba Garcia has been invited to welcome the attendees. Attendees have the opportunity to interact with the panelists. Emcee Gloria Ramos of WFFAA will introduce keynote speaker Deputy Administrator Jovita Carranza from the US Small Business Administration. Nominated by President George W. Bush, Carranza was confirmed by unanimous consent on December 9, 2006, and sworn into office on December 15, 2006. As second in command to U.S. SBA Administrator Steven C. Preston she helps manage over 80 field offices throughout the country and a portfolio of direct and guaranteed business loans, venture capital investments and disaster loans worth almost $80 billion. Carranza also leads key operational improvement initiatives and projects designed to improve customer response. Carranza brings to the SBA more than 30 years of successful corporate experience at UPS. Through her work with the small business community throughout her career, she has a keen understanding of this vital sector of the U.S. economy.
In conclusion of the luncheon, Gina Puente-Brancato, President of Puente-Brancato Enterprises will be recognized as the 2007 “Latina Entrepreneur of the Year” award. Gina became an entrepreneur in her own right in 1995 when she created Gina Puente Ventures, Inc. dba La Bodega Winery, the world’s first and only winery in an airport. This first solo business venture by Gina has received international media attention. In 1996, V. Puente Currency Services, Inc. was created and placed successful bids to serve as the local operator of two Thomas Cook (now Travelex Worldwide) locations. Later that same year, Venturas Puente, Inc. entered into a franchise agreement for one Frullati Cafe and Bakery. In 2000, the family company acquired four corporately owned Frullati Cafes, expanding their food and beverage business to five locations.
