Los Angeles, CA--(HISPANIC PR WIRE)--October 1, 2007--Pat Gonzalez knows how to run a successful business. For years she owned and operated a commissary and catering company for a major studio in Burbank, California. The money was good, but the hours were horrendous.
“I was missing way too much at home,” said Pat, a Los Angeles resident. “My girls were growing up without me! My husband used to have to bring them in to the commissary to visit me. No job is worth it when you hardly see your kids.”
Nine years ago, Pat left her business behind to try something new. She became an independent sales consultant for PartyLite, the world’s largest direct seller of home ambiance products, including candles, candle accessories and home fragrance accessories. She also left behind her crazy schedule and created precious time with her family.
Today, Pat has been an inspiration to dozens of women who struggle with the same issue – the need to earn income versus the need for time with children and family. Almost all of the women she works with in her PartyLite unit are from the Hispanic community.
“Family is the foundation of the Hispanic culture,” said Pat. “That’s why I believe direct selling can be a great fit in the lives of many Latina women. Being your own boss gives you the flexibility to be there for your family and contribute to the household financially.”
-- According to the Direct Selling Association (DSA), only five percent of the more than four million people working in direct selling are Hispanic. Pat believes that this is a huge opportunity for Latina women.
-- “When you take your business seriously and you enjoy what you do like me, making money can be easy,” said Pat. “But for me, it’s all about the commodity of time. I missed too much with my own kids, but now I cherish the leisure time I have to spend with my grandchildren.”
-- Los Angeles-area residents interested in learning more about starting their own home-based business in the Hispanic community are encouraged to visit PartyLite’s booth in the Career & Education village at the Latino Book and Family Festival, October 13 and14 at the Arc Light Theater in Hollywood. Pat Gonzalez and other PartyLite leaders will be on hand to answer any questions. Booth visitors will receive a free gift and are eligible to win a variety of prizes to be given away throughout the event.
-- PartyLite is a proud sponsor of the 2007 Latino Book and Family Festivals in Houston, Los Angeles and Chicago. The festivals are operated by Latino Literacy Now, a nonprofit organization. For more information, contact PartyLite at 1-800-450-1797.
PartyLite candles and home fragrance accessories are sold through home parties by more than 50,000 people in 10 countries. More than 12 million people attend PartyLite parties around the world every year. Founded in 1973, PartyLite is a member of the Blyth, Inc. family of home fragrance products and related candle accessories, traded on the New York Stock Exchange, symbol BTH.
