American Airlines Celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month
Series of partnerships recognizes Hispanic arts, culture and tradition
Miami, FL--(HISPANIC PR WIRE)--September 28, 2007--In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, American Airlines will honor Hispanic culture by supporting several local and national Hispanic organization-sponsored events throughout the country. This year’s support adds to the company’s long history of commitment to the Hispanic community.
Named among the Diversity Elite in September 2007 by Hispanic Business Magazine, American was recognized as one of the Top 60 companies that offer opportunities for Hispanics. Categories included Board & Leadership, Recruitment, Retention & Promotion, Marketing & Community Outreach and Supplier Diversity.
In addition, American serves Hispanic consumers by offering the most comprehensive flight schedule to Latin America. The airline was also the first to provide a Spanish-language onboard magazine, Nexos, and was selected as one of Latina Style magazine’s Top 50 companies for Latinas.

Through the years, since establishing service to Latin America in 1942, American Airlines has supported pillar national Hispanic organizations such as the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC), the National Council of La Raza (NCLR), the U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials (NALEO). In celebrating Hispanic Heritage 2007, American Airlines is sponsoring several national and local organizations and events. Following are some examples of these partnerships:

-- Musicarte, Oct. 19-21, Dallas
