What will change in the City?

Artificial Turf

25,000 square feet of turf will be removed from soccer field #5 and replaced with artificial turf for a total water-savings of 124,206,000 gallons.

California Friendly Plants

Approximately 74,000 square feet of turf will be removed from public areas throughout the City and California Friendly Plants will be put in its place for a total water-savings of 15,974,000 gallons.

Weather Based Irrigation Controllers

These controllers automatically adjust sprinkler water times based on the weather to conserve water and reduce run-off. By installing these controllers at various public parks the City can save over 2,119,000 gallons of water.

Waterbrooms

The City's cleaning crew has already been equipped with pressurized Waterbrooms that clean more efficiently and save water. By using these Waterbrooms over 4,500,756 gallons of water will be saved.

High-Efficiency Toilets

High-Efficiency Toilets use 1.2 gallons of water or less per flush. The installation of over 70 high-efficiency toilets in City buildings and recreation facilities will save over 19,560,000 gallons of water.

Waterless Urinals

These special Waterless Urinals completely eliminate the use of water while maintaining high sanitation standards. By installing just ten of the Waterless Urinals the city could save at least 7,987,000 gallons of water.

By implementing all of the measures the City of Bell Gardens will save at least 1.7 billion gallons of water. You can also be California Friendly in your home or business by installing water saving devices and changing the way you use water!
