Nestlé Juicy Juice Promotes Healthy Habits, Active Lifestyle among Latino Children and Families
Through Copita Juicy Juice, Hundreds of children will gather to participate in junior soccer tournament at the Rose Bowl

Glendale, CA--(HISPANIC PR WIRE)--July 27, 2007--Nestlé(R) Juicy Juice(R) announced today the Copita Juicy Juice junior soccer tournament, which will take place at Pasadena’s Rose Bowl on Saturday, July 28 and Sunday, July 29. Keeping in step with Hispanic parents’ growing commitment to their children’s health and nutrition, Juicy Juice is promoting healthy choices and physical activity among children through this special soccer event. Over 300 children ages 10 and under from 32 junior soccer leagues are expected to participate in Copita Juicy Juice.

According to the U.S. Center for Disease Control and Prevention, 50 percent of Hispanic children have a high risk of obesity and childhood diabetes. This risk is considerably decreased when good nutrition practices, physical activity and exercise are incorporated in children’s routines.

“By including healthy eating habits and physical activity as part of children’s daily routines, Hispanic parents can help set their kids on a path toward a healthy lifestyle,” said Victoria Nuevo-Celeste, Nestlé Juicy Juice Marketing Manager. “Nestlé Juicy Juice products are made from 100% juice with no added sugars, sweeteners, preservatives or artificial flavors, providing important nutrients every child needs. We are very proud to host Copita Juicy Juice and encourage healthy habits among young children.”

According to the United States Department of Agriculture (U.S.D.A.), 6 oz. of Nestlé Juicy Juice provides one serving from the Fruit Group and is an excellent source of vitamin C.

Experts agree that good nutrition and exercise go hand-in-hand. Studies have shown that getting children and young people involved in physical activities helps to prevent obesity as well as a number of other diseases.

“The current technology trends of videogames and computers have taken most of our kids’ free time,” said Claudia Gonzalez, Nutritionist and Health Expert. “As parents, it is critical that we incorporate exercise and physical activity as part of our children’s daily routines. It is important to always have fruits and vegetables available at home so kids can have healthy options, instead of high-calorie snacks and beverages with low nutritional value. Juicy Juice provides a great option for moms on the go, who want to provide their kids the nutritional benefits of 100% natural fruit juice.”

Nestlé Juicy Juice partnered with the Hispanic Soccer Alliance to offer the Los Angeles community a fun and healthy event for their children. Copita Juicy Juice will allow junior soccer leagues to participate in a friendly environment and promote exercise and healthy habits among Hispanics in Los Angeles.

Copita Juicy Juice will take place Saturday, July 27 and Sunday, July 28 at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena.
