XM Radio Offers Personalized Messages from Three Baseball Stars
David Ortiz of the Boston Red Sox Lends his Voice in Spanish
Washington, D.C--(HISPANIC PR WIRE)--May 1, 2007--To inaugurate the start of baseball season, XM Radio is launching the promotion, “Call Stars,” through which fans can send phone messages to family and friends from a baseball star.
Starting today, by visiting the web site http://www.xmradio.com/mlb, fans of baseball can create and send voice messages by telephone or email to other fans. To create a message, a person fills out the name of a friend or family member, their favorite team, hobbies and other details. With this, the site automatically produces a personalized message from the baseball player that has been selected.
Messages by David Ortiz, a batter and native of the Dominican Republic, are available in English as well as Spanish. In addition to Ortiz, one can opt to send a message in English from Derek Jeter of the New York Yankees or former Baltimore Oriole Cal Ripken, who will be inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame this summer.
This is the first time that a 'personalized phone message' marketing campaign has been conducted in Spanish.
XM Radio offers game by game coverage in Spanish on the program, “Solamente Pelota” hosted by Uri Berenguer, a 25 year-old from Panama who has been the Spanish-speaking voice of the Boston Red Sox and one of the youngest commentators in Major League Baseball.
XM also offers baseball news on the channel MLB en Español, one of 170 radio channels available nationwide. The channel XM Deportivo is hosted by the legendary sports commentator Andrés Cantor. In addition, XM has the news channel CNN en Español and 69 channels of commercial-free music, including 14 channels of rock, four of Latin music and seven of Urban and hip hop music.
XM is broadcast via satellite throughout the continental United Status and can be heard on satellite radio receivers in the car, at home, the office and on portable devices. A subscription to XM costs $12.95 a month and discounts are available for customers who sign up for multi-year subscriptions.
