WHAT:
A 40-foot long, 4-foot high crawl-through replica of the human colon, known as the Colossal Colon, will visit Los Angeles as part of the Cancer Research and Prevention Foundation’s 20-city tour traveling across the nation to educate the public about colorectal cancer. A press conference on Wednesday, June 18th will feature local speakers and survivors.

The Colossal Colon Tour features 10 interactive activity stations designed to educate the public on the prevention, early detection and treatment of colorectal cancer as well as the importance of exercise and healthy living.

WHO:

--Eric Davis, former MLB player and President of The Eric Davis Foundation and colon cancer survivor

--Dr. Lee Rosen, Director of Developmental Therapeutics, Cancer Institute Medical Group

--Carolyn Aldigé, President and Founder of the Cancer Research and Prevention Foundation

--Molly McMaster, colon cancer survivor and creator of the Colossal Colon

--Margaret McCormick, Director of Patient Relations, Roche Oncology and Colossal Colon Tour sponsor

WHY:
The Cancer Research and Prevention Foundation – leaders of National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month – focuses on educating the public about the power of cancer prevention. Colorectal cancer is 90 percent preventable, yet it is the second most deadly cancer among men and women in the U.S. The Colossal Colon Tour gives visitors a rare chance to “check their insides out” in a fun and family-friendly way.
