Detroit/Dearborn, MI--(HISPANIC PR WIRE)--December 13, 2006--Of the numerous Latino students with aspirations to become future business leaders, Bruno Olvera of Chadsey High School is well on his way. Bruno took home top honors for his business plan at the United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (USHCC) Foundation’s Regional Detroit BizFest which was held November 29 - December 2, 2006 at the Michigan Technical Education Center (M-TEC) in Dearborn, MI.

For the third consecutive year, the United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (USHCC) Foundation in partnership with Ford Motor Company Fund hosted thirty Detroit students for the Youth Entrepreneurship “BizFest”, with a focus on the automotive industry. The intensive four-day workshop provided students with the tools to be successful in business and life. Students also learned how to launch their own business, establish entrepreneurial and leadership goals, create business and life plans, become effective leaders and team players, identify investment opportunities and make public presentations.

Garnishing first place and receiving a scholarship award of $1000.00 was Olvera, a senior at Chadsey High School in Detroit, MI. Olvera created a business plan for La Frontera Mexican restaurant specializing in catering and live Mariachi music.

Placing second and receiving a scholarship award of $750.00 was Burdest Williams who created the concept of Worldwide Interpretation and Translation Services (W.I.T.S.). The senior from Western High School created the concept for W.I.T.S. which will provide top quality interpretation and translation assistance for corporations in international ventures.

Rounding out the top three was Chadsey High School junior Raquel Silva who received a $500.00 scholarship award for Rocky’s Café. At Rocky’s Café young adults can congregate to play pool, go online, eat or listen to live bands.

In addition to scholarships all three Regional BizFest winners will attend the 2007 National BizFest to be held in San Juan, Puerto Rico, September 19-23, 2007.
