Latino Skateboarding Champion Grinds His Way into New Tony Hawk Video Game

--(HISPANIC PR WIRE – CONTEXTO LATINO)--What does skateboarding sensation Paul "P-Rod" Rodriguez, Jr. do during his downtime? He steps into the virtual world of video games.

The son of comedian Paul Rodriguez, "P-Rod," 20, is a Mexican-American professional skateboarder who is making a name for himself beyond the world of action sports. After turning pro in 2002, he was named TransWorld SKATEboarding magazine's "Rookie of the Year" and went on to win Gold Medals for the X-Games Men's Skateboard Street Category in 2004 and 2005. He is now gearing up for a slightly different role in Tony Hawk's Project 8(R), the latest title in the top selling video game series.

We recently sat down with Rodriguez to discuss his role in Tony Hawk's Project 8 and being in a video game.

Q: How long have you been skating? And how did you become involved with the Tony Hawk games?

A: I've been skating for 10 years. I heard about being in the game through my agent, Circe.

Q: Have you been featured in any other video games?

A: Yes. I was also in Tony Hawk's Underground (THUG) and Tony Hawk's American Wasteland(R).

Q: What is your role in Tony Hawk's Project 8?

A: I play myself.

Q: How did your involvement with Project 8 differ from previous years?

A: In addition to doing a voiceover session, this time around I had to go in and get my face and body scanned. I also had to get into the funny motion-capture suit and skate so that my skating could be put into the game. I was blown away by the technology and it's eerie how real it all looks.

Q: Are there tricks in the game that you can't perform in real life?

A: Yes, everything. You can do so many crazy tricks in the game that you would never be able to do in real life, but that's what makes it fun.

Q: Do you play video games?

A: I never played games before THUG, but I do now. I play Tony Hawk games.

Tony Hawk's Project 8 is rated "T" for teen and is available for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 2, Xbox and PSP. For more information, visit http://www.activision.com.
