Oscar De La Hoya's ‘The Next Great Champ’ Gets Added Window en Español on Fridays at 11:00 p.m. ET Exclusively on Fox Sports en Español

Los Angeles, CA--(HISPANIC PR WIRE - BUSINESS WIRE)--September 9, 2004--"The Next Great Champ," Oscar De La Hoya's unscripted reality series pitting 12 fighters against each other for a shot at a professional contract with De La Hoya's Golden Boy Promotions, will receive additional exposure and a new targeted audience when it premieres on Fox Sports en Español this Friday, Sept. 10, at 11:00 p.m. ET/8:00 p.m. PT. Fox Sports en Español will televise the new FOX series on a delayed basis, and in Spanish, during the fall season.

De La Hoya will serve as a mentor, friend and motivator to the 12 boxing hopefuls, who in addition to fighting for a contract with the Golden Boy's boxing company, also get a shot at a title fight with the World Boxing Organization (WBO). All will train under the guidance of legendary trainers Lou Duva and Tommy Brooks. Duva has trained three-time Heavyweight Champion Evander Holyfield. Brooks has worked with former Heavyweight Champion Mike Tyson.

In the quest to become "The Next Great Champ," each aspiring prizefighter will bring one personal friend, wife or family member who will elevate the level of drama and tension of each new episode.
