HOUSTON, Nov. 17 /PRNewswire-HISPANIC PR WIRE/ -- With the holidays approaching, now is the perfect time to pick up the phone and reconnect with family, friends and loved-ones all around the world. That is why CITGO Petroleum is putting families first by offering motorists in Wisconsin a $3 phone card with the purchase of 10 gallons of fuel. The program will run from Nov. 15 to Dec. 31 and cards can be used on calls to neighbors around the corner, or friends and family overseas.

"With the hectic lives that people live these days, it can be so easy to lose touch with the people that matter the most," said Dick Spiegel president of CITGO marketer, SOS Fuels. "By providing phone cards to motorists across Wisconsin, CITGO Petroleum and its network of locally owned CITGO stations are helping to bring families and friends closer together, no matter how many miles separate them."

"CITGO and its network of nearly 7,000 locally owned retail locations across the country are dedicated to building communities and supporting the most important relationships -- families and loved ones. Providing these phone cards is another way to give back to those that support our brand each and every day," added Speigel.

The phone cards are supported by leading telecommunications firm Poplar Telecom Group and provide excellent rates on calls made across town, across the country or across the globe. CITGO began working with Poplar in San Antonio, Miami and Tampa, Fla. and is now extending that relationship with phone cards in four new markets this holiday season: Green Bay, Madison and Milwaukee, Wis. and the New York metropolitan area. The cards provide the perfect opportunity for people to catch up with loved ones, discuss their favorite sports team with friends or to use as holiday gifts.

"We are proud to continue our relationship with CITGO and provide phone cards," said Eddy Gorrin, operations manager with Poplar Telecom Group. "In working with CITGO we have been able to provide more than 14 million phone calls since May 2008 and help people reach out to friends and family in more than 50 different countries."

The CITGO phone card program is developed in alignment with the principles of competitiveness of its shareholder, Petroleos de Venezuela, S.A., the national oil company of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela. Each day, CITGO works hard to provide programs and products which allow the network of nearly 7,000 local CITGO operations to grow and succeed.
