LATINA Style Business Series Reaches Out to New Jersey Latina Entrepreneurs on October 22!

WASHINGTON, Oct. 19 /PRNewswire-HISPANIC PR WIRE/ -- LATINA Style Magazine, the premier magazine addressing the needs of established Latina and women entrepreneurs in the U.S., is coming to New Jersey celebrating 11 years of the LATINA Style Business Series (LSBS). The event will take place Thursday, October 22, 2009 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Marriott Newark Liberty International Airport Hotel located at 1 Hotel Road, Newark, NJ 07114. Mrs. Ester Novak, Founder & CEO of VanguardComm will be honored as the "LATINA Entrepreneur of the Year 2009 of New Jersey" during the awards luncheon for her achievements as a successful business owner.

The Business Series, unique to LATINA Style Magazine, is a well known development program empowering Latina entrepreneurs across the country. More than 22,000 Latina entrepreneurs and professionals have benefited from participating in this exciting and informative one-day business program since its conception in 1998.

Ms. Saara Marte is the Diversity Relationship Manager of Prudential. Marte obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from Muhlenberg College and holds Series 7 and Series 66 licenses. Elisa A. Charters, Partner of Toussa Corporation, was formerly the Treasurer of the Latino Leadership Alliance of New Jersey (LLANJ) and was the Chairperson of the LLANJ Fundraising Committee in 2008.

According to the Small Business Administration, the total population of Hispanic origin in New Jersey is 1,379,000, representing almost 16% of the state population. Of the total Hispanic population, 3.6% are business owners. Hispanics account for 7% of the total number of businesses in New Jersey. In 2002, Hispanic-owned businesses in the U.S. totaled 1.6 million firms, representing a 31 percent increase from 1997. Hispanic-owned businesses employed 1.5 million people and generated $222 billion in revenue in 2002.

Chosen among her peers, this years' entrepreneur award winner, Mrs. Esther Novak, is the founder and CEO of VanguardComm. Peruvian born and bilingual, Novak graduated from Barnard College. She pursued graduate studies in Spanish literature at Columbia University and holds professional certificates in management and marketing from Columbia, Harvard and Duke. Novak currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Association of Hispanic Advertising Agencies (AHAA) and on New Jersey Governor Jon Corzine's Council for Economic Growth. She was recognized as one of the 50 Best Women in Business by NJBIZ in 2009.
