MIAMI, June 4 /PRNewswire-HISPANIC PR WIRE/ -- Alma DDB's "Intersections" campaign for State Farm Insurance(R) won a Bronze Effie award in the Hispanic category at the 41st Annual Effie Awards Ceremony, which took place on June 3rd, in New York City.

Every year, the Effie Awards honor the most significant achievement in marketing communications: ideas that work.

"On behalf of State Farm, I would like to congratulate Alma DDB for winning an Effie for their work on our "Intersections" campaign. We are very fortunate to have them on our team," said Mark Gibson, assistant vice president of Advertising for State Farm Insurance.

The winning "Intersections" effort launched in March 2008 across a variety of national and local US Hispanic media which included TV, Radio, Print and Internet ads planned and purchased by OMD Latino. Another extremely successful component of the effectual campaign was the much awarded musical brand experience of "Los Felinos de La Noche" produced in a joint venture between Alma DDB and FiRe Advertainment.

The campaign objectives called for changing the perception of State Farm among Hispanics from "not in tune and too expensive" to one of "being there" to support them and save them money -- the necessary first step for moving the brand up the ladder of the auto insurance shopping consideration list and ultimately, to increase sales. Accomplished by recognizing the relevant "intersections" or key moments in the lives of Hispanics, the initiative created a revitalized affinity for the brand and a significant increase in auto insurance policies in high-density Hispanic areas.

"The Intersections campaign is a clear example that relevant ideas that capture the spirit of life, turn out to be more effective not only with consumers but also with our industry peers. This is a huge honor for both State Farm and Alma DDB," stated Luis Miguel Messianu, President and CCO of Alma DDB.

The DDB network, widely recognized for developing superior creative business solutions, won the most Effie Awards of any agency in the 2009 competition with a total of 12 awards.
