TAMPA, Fla., March 30 /PRNewswire-HISPANIC PR WIRE/ -- CENTRO, the leading Spanish-language weekly publication in the Tampa Bay area is pleased to announce a new name that reflects its own backyard -- "Tampa." CENTRO Mi Diario is now CENTRO Tampa. This comes as a result of community feedback and the way readers lovingly refer to this publication just as CENTRO. It also will differentiate the publication from other sister publications in other markets, like CENTRO Richmond. CENTRO's branding is now in sync with its website: http://www.CENTROtampa.com .

Manuel Ballagas, Editor of the publication commented: "We promise new and exciting features and stories. One of the biggest ways CENTRO will enhance content is by offering a new culinary column by Cielito Rosado ( http://www.cielitorosado.com ) who will be the main feature of our SABOR (flavor) section. Cielito is a renowned Chef in Puerto Rico and Latin America having won the love of many viewers through her daily cooking shows on Wapa-TV" (Channel 156 and 909 in Bright House Networks, 414 on DirecTV).

Since our inception in 2005 CENTRO is the only weekly Spanish language publication to offer free home delivery distribution and is the only Hispanic publication audited by the Audit Bureau of Circulations (ABC) in Tampa. In April of 2009, CENTRO will be making important changes that will enable the publication to further engage its readers and better navigate the current economic climate.

As of April 10, readers will notice that CENTRO will be easier to read and manage. The size of the newspaper is moving to a modified layout which is rapidly becoming the industry standard in tabloid newspaper size. This means that the newspaper will be 10" in height and will have 6 columns in width. This will allow for more content and advertising space. The change in size will enable CENTRO to be "green" by utilizing less paper while still maintaining the high content quality that readers have come to expect.

CENTRO's distribution will be focused in the Hillsborough County area where, according to research company Claritas, almost half of the Hispanic population in the Tampa Bay DMA resides. CENTRO's home delivery and single copy distribution points will concentrate only in Hillsborough county with a total circulation of 41,000 copies. Hispanics who live in areas outside of Hillsborough will still have free access to the publication electronically by visiting http://www.centrotampa.com .

According to Orlando Nieves, General Manager of CENTRO Grupo de Comunicacion, "2009 has been a year of many changes, and the changes in CENTRO will make us more efficient and more relevant. We thank our readers and advertisers for the support they have given us and we hope to continue providing top quality journalism and pushing the envelope with our publication, website, and mobile products."
