Defining Trends Media Group Rendered Tribute to Dominican Leaders
The Fourth Annual Awards Gala celebrating Dominican Republic Independence Day honored the work from outstanding Dominicans in the City of New York.

NEW YORK, March 3 /PRNewswire-HISPANIC PR WIRE/ -- On Friday, February 27 Defining Trends Media Group ( http://www.dtmmag.com ) celebrated The 165th Anniversary of the Dominican Republic Independence recognizing six highly regarded Dominican leaders. The event which took place at the elegant El Morocco Nightclub and was animated by various live presentations from several well known performers such as the bachata group 'X-treme,' salsa performer Ray Reyes and actor and standup comedy celebrity, Ruperto Vanderpool, the Da Heights Group, solo violinist Lorenzo Lorac and J. Aponte, among many other artists.
The list of awardees was headed by Negro Santos, producer of long standing TV show "Santo Domingo Invita" (Telemundo 47) for his long TV trajectory developed without interruption during 35 years. Likewise, the newspaper NY Daily News joined the Dominican festivity by distinguishing this producer with a special illustrated page in his honor, and created by the prestigious designer Bill Gallo.
During the gala other recognitions were extended to Jeanne B. Mullgrav, Director of Department of Youth and Community Development; Juan Carlos Alonso, radio personality at La Mega 97.9 and from radio morning show "El vacilon de la manana", together with Hostos Community College University professor, historian and documentary producer, Nestor Montilla. The list was completed with Cirilo Moronta, businessman and owner of 809 Restaurant, and Rosita Romero, founder and director of Centro para Desarrollo de la Mujer Dominicana (Dominican Woman Development Center).
The fourth annual awards gala celebrating Dominican Independence Day was also honored by the highly regarded presence of U.S. Congressman Charles Rangel; Manhattan Boro President, Scott Stringer; Councilman Miguel Martinez; Dr. Hugo Morales, member of the Board of Trustees at City University of New York (CUNY); and New York Assemblyman, Adriano Espaillat.
