MEMPHIS, Tenn., Oct. 6 /PRNewswire-HISPANIC PR WIRE/ -- Some of the public's favorite household brands have joined forces to support the life-saving work of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital(R), one of the world's premier pediatric research centers. From October 19 - 25, consumers can help St. Jude in its fight to find cures and save children simply by purchasing participating Procter and Gamble (P&G) brands including Tide, Bounty, Charmin and Cover Girl as well as other manufacturers' brands at Target stores nationwide.

For every purchase of a participating brand during the week-long campaign, five percent will be donated to St. Jude. The donation from the purchase of P&G brands at Target will be up to $700,000.

Working together, Target and P&G have made a lasting difference in the lives of St. Jude patients and their families

The P&G partnership has contributed $5.6 million to St. Jude since 1999. In addition to monetary donations made to St. Jude, P&G donates its household products to Target House, a free long-term housing facility that provides a home-away-from home for families whose children are receiving treatment at St. Jude. P&G joined the consumer campaign to raise funds for St. Jude in 2006. In 2006 and 2007, $1.3 million was donated to St. Jude through the purchase of P&G brands at Target stores nationwide.

Joanne Harris, P&G's Target Team Leader said, "P&G is proud to partner with Target and St. Jude. Through our company's cause (Live, Learn and Thrive), we aim to reach more than 50 million children in need every year with programs that help them get off to a healthy start, receive access to education, and build skills for life. Supporting Target House and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital will make a meaningful difference in the lives of children with cancer and other catastrophic diseases."

"Working together, Target and P&G have made a lasting difference in the lives of St. Jude patients and their families," said David L. McKee, interim CEO and chief operating officer of ALSAC, the fundraising organization of St. Jude. "Each year this campaign helps spread our message to thousands of Target shoppers and encourages them to help St. Jude continue its unique mission to conduct the groundbreaking research that will benefit children in communities everywhere."

During this year's October campaign, P&G is one of nine participating vendors. Target's October 19 circular will include a complete list of participating brands as well as special values on P&G brands supporting St. Jude. In addition, participating brands will be designated with in-store signage during the week of the campaign.
